WHAT IS A DESIGN? 

Essentially, a design is the overall appearance of your product. It is the shape, configuration, pattern and ornamentation of your product, that when applied gives a unique appearance.

To register a design it must be NEWand DISTINCT and cannot have yet appeared publicly in the marketplace, or have been published in any document either inside or outside of Australia. Once a design has been marketed or published, it will not be considered new.
